Thanksgiving is here, a time when people come together and intentionally say “Thank You” to our Lord for all His benefits! Thanksgiving is a time when we remember, when we remind ourselves to “speak” gratefulness, thankfulness, for the harvest from our “seed”, what we have sown, what we have planted in faith with our words, our mouth. As followers of Christ, we believe in the power of the Word of God. God created the world, not through His imagination; He “spoke” creation into existence. Genesis chapter 1 is filled with the phrase, “And God said….” God’s words will “do the work I sent them to do; they will complete the assignment I gave them” (Isaiah 55:11, Message translation). In Matthew 8:8, Jesus is approached by a Gentile, a Roman centurion, on behalf of his servant who is ill. The centurion tells Jesus to “speak the word only” and his servant would be healed, affirming his faith in the power of Jesus’ Word, that His Word will do the work.
The Word of God is “seed” for His people. The Word produces results from the “unseen” into the “seen”, from the supernatural into the natural world. God’s Word is what we sow. Joseph Prince discusses in Mark 4:26-28 how the Kingdom of God is ours through faith. The Parable of the Sower says, “A man scatters seed on the ground; he sleeps and rises, night and day; the seed sprouts and grows, he doesn’t know how!” We are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). So we, too, have power to “speak” things into existence, although we ourselves know not how. But God! He watches over His Word to perform it! (Jeremiah 1:12) Let’s choose to tune Out the noise of the world, the naysayers, the negativity, and tune In to the Word. If we have that heart to listen and hear, we can sleep night and day, lead a normal life, and the harvest will come!
"What you say matters more than you realize. Your words create, build, and even “war” in the spirit. We also have creative power in our words…don’t let culture dictate your language….let every conversation, every decree, and every prayer be infused with the living, breathing power of Scripture. Saturate your prayers with His truth, His promises. And watch as His Word begins bringing healing, breakthrough, and transformation. The Word works. The Word is alive. And when you speak the Word only, you will see heaven invade your life in ways you never imagined. Shift your language and shift your life. Speak the Word only."
