The Enemy’s greatest desire has always been to make mankind question God and His Word. Our Enemy wants us to believe that God is angry with us, that God does not love us, that God is the one who condemns. It is the Enemy, Satan, who is the thief that comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). Pastor Nancy Dufresne (“Jesus the Healer” - dufresneministries.com) reminds us that Satan’s intent is to blame God for everything that happens that is “bad”. Pastor Dufresne uses insurance policies as an example. The phrase “act of God” is often used by insurance companies to describe events such as earthquakes, hurricanes, storms, floods, and tornados. The purpose of these clauses is to limit or remove the insurance company’s responsibility for paying for injuries, damages, and losses outside of human control, because they are “acts of God”.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has similar “act of God” clauses in players’ contracts. These can include threats of terrorism, epidemics or weather. Their contracts state that part of a player’s salary can be withheld for each game that is canceled because of such events. The league is not responsible for the loss due to these “acts of God”. If the game is not rescheduled, players will not be fully compensated, and the league cannot be held liable. In the words of the world, Your loss is God’s doing!!

GOD IS LOVE! Satan is the one who plotted to “take the lid off” what was forbidden to Adam and Eve, the ABC’s of everything God never intended for them to consume - or to consume them - from the Tree of Knowledge. God came through the Garden for a wellness check. Knowing all things anyway, God said to Adam, “Where are you?”, already knowing the two of them were hiding. God asks Adam if he has eaten from the forbidden tree. Adam Accuses God, saying, “The woman You put here with me gave me the fruit and I ate it.” God asks Eve, “What is this you have done?” Eve Blames the serpent. What happens next? The ground, the earth is Cursed. Mankind has fallen from God’s Grace. Adam and Eve are turned away from paradise, to live - and to die - in a Fallen world. All behavior that is “not like God” has now been released to inevitably infect their character; sin nature has taken over and taken them out of perfect fellowship with their perfect Father God. 

Jesus came to "fix" what Adam "broke", to restore mankind back into God’s Grace (John 10:10). This is the essence and foundation of the Gospel. What does that mean to us today? That's a story for another time……stay tuned!
