Who Has Believed Our Report? (Isaiah 53)

Who Has Believed Our Report? (Isaiah 53)

Posted April 19, 2026

The Church has just celebrated Resurrection Day 2026. An empty tomb is proof that our Savior lives! Christ Jesus – crucified, buried, and now alive again forever. Jesus came into the world, a gift to us from God, to fulfill All of the Law, something that man could not do. Man could not live up to All of the “You Shall”s that are in the Law, in the Commandments. But God had a plan that He revealed to the prophet Jeremiah (chapter 31:31-34), a promise of a New Covenant of Grace, not based on how good We are but based on how good He is! God gave us His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who took a cruel beating, who died a cruel death, who put everything We couldn’t get right, We can’t get right, We will not ever get right, on Himself. Jesus said, “I Will!” for every “You Shall” we couldn’t do. Every trespass has been forgiven, when we believe that Christ Jesus died, was buried and is now alive again forever. The Gospel of Grace, in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work, is the promised New Covenant. Jesus Christ alone can “present us before God without fault and with exceeding joy! (Jude 24)”. We are in right standing with God when we live as disciples of Jesus, when we go into the world, teaching the true Gospel of Grace, of His unchanging love for us. Are we still imperfect, sinful, rebellious and disobedience? Yes. Does this mean that God does not see sin in us? No. Because of what Christ Jesus finished on the cross, God is satisfied that all Our sins – past, present, future - have been punished, in the body of Jesus Christ. When we believe and receive this truth, God sees all our sins on Jesus. He see us as His righteous, forgiven, favored, blessed, accepted, and beloved sons and daughters. If God would now hold sin against us, He would be saying His Son didn’t do a Perfect work, that He didn’t carry it all to the cross. John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”.

Matthew Chapter 17:5 confirms that Jesus Christ reigns above everything. When Jesus is transfigured “on a high mountain” in the presence of the disciples Peter, John and James. Moses, the Law giver, and the prophet Elijah, the Law restorer – both significant in the history of the Jewish people – also appear, talking to Jesus. When Peter suggests making a memorial for all three of them, the Lord God plainly declares from heaven, “THIS is my Beloved Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him!” Immediately, Moses and Elijah were no longer there with Jesus. The Law and the Prophets have been fulfilled by His death, burial and resurrection. Listen to Jesus!

“Hosanna!” to the One who loves the unlovable; who sits with outcasts; who enters the homes of sinners. “Hosanna!” to the One who promised Eternal Life to a dying “unholy” thief hanging beside Him on a cross. “Hosanna!” to the Lamb of God who has taken away the sins of the world. We are forgiven in Jesus Christ, the promised New Covenant of Grace. He is Not here. He is Risen. Don't put Him back on the cross!
