Don't Miss Your New Beginning!

Posted March 22, 2026

It's Springtime again, a symbol of new beginnings. This month, I am sharing a post from “Heart of Jesus Ministries”, March 2026, for your meditation:

Most people read the story of Lot’s wife in Genesis 19:26 and reduce it to one moment: “She looked back.” But when you study it deeper, this wasn’t just a glance. It was attachment. The Hebrew word used for “looked back” doesn’t just mean to “glance”. It means to look with longing, to gaze with attachment and a connection. Her feet were moving forward, but her heart was still tied to what God was delivering her from.

Many people have physically left sin, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually they are still in it. Their desires are still rooted in that relationship, that lifestyle, that environment. God is saying: Deliverance is not relocation; it’s transformation. It's a matter of the heart.

Lot’s wife became a pillar of salt. Salt in the ancient world was a symbol of preservation. In other words, she became stuck in the very thing she refused to let go of. SHE DIDN’T TURN INTO SALT JUST BECAUSE SHE LOOKED BACK. HER BODY LEFT SODOM, BUT HER HEART NEVER DID. What you won’t release can preserve you in a place God called you out of. Jesus even referenced Lot’s wife in Luke 17:20-36 when talking to the disciples about the coming Kingdom of God: “…as in the days of Noah…..it was the same in the days of Lot….no one should Go Back for anything. Remember Lot’s wife!” Why would Jesus say that? Because this isn’t just a story. It’s a warning. You can be walking out of Sodom, and still be longing for it. You can be on your way to freedom and still be emotionally loyal to bondage. God didn’t destroy Lot’s wife because she turned her head. He judged what was still anchored in her heart. This is why Scripture says in Proverbs 4:23: “Guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Because wherever your heart is, your life will follow.

So the real question is not: “What did you leave?” The real question is: “What are you still holding on to?” Because you cannot step fully into what God has for you while still being in love with what He delivered you from. [Credit: Winnie Wilfred]
